We
hope more than anything that you are all in excellent health. In order to minimize the
outbreak of COVID-19, Great Hearts has asked teachers to revise and share our
lesson plans with you in such a way that makes learning enjoyable for the
whole family. In an effort to do just that, the kinder team has created a
week’s worth of lessons with details on how to present information that mirrors
what we’ve been doing in class, and worksheets for your child to practice to
reinforce learning. The link to the packet is provided here. Instructional
Packets However,
if you requested to pick up a packet, there will be copies placed in bins near
the drive-line area today from
11am-6pm. Printing at home is advised in order
to prevent interaction with multiple other families touching bins.
To send packets
back in, there are many free apps available for
download on your device so that photos of student work can be converted into
readable PDFs for teachers. Suggestions include CamScanner, Scannable, and
ScannerPro. Please have your child make sure they write their name on each page
turned in.
Please
email completed work, with your child’s name in the subject line, as
follows:
Last
Name A-K to Mrs. Bagby at CBagby@ArchwayLincoln.org and
Last
Name L-Z to Mrs. Sleeba at JGeorge@ArchwayLincoln.org
While
we reduced the workload to approximately one hour each day, the packets are
quite lengthy. You do not need to print all pages and those that you do,
can be printed double-sided to conserve paper. Writing out work on lined
paper is completely acceptable.
Digital
Leveled Reader books will be made available through KidsA-Z.com and you will receive a
separate email with your child’s login specifications today. Please
have your child read 2 books this coming week and mute the sound when
needed so that your child attempts to read independently.
Our kindergarten team worked tirelessly this past week to create
this packet for you and your child and we hope it meets your expectation, under
these conditions, for a quality Great Hearts education. This is a new and unprecedented
situation for all of us and please know that, as teachers, nothing would
make us happier than being back in the classroom teaching in-person and
interacting with your children. We are learning new skills as we move forward
and persevering with humility. That being said, none of this process is
set in stone, and we will continue to innovate during this time to streamline
learning from home. Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and
dedication to creating a memorable kindergarten year for your child. We
love our kinder families!!!!

Please reach
out to myself and/or Mrs. Sleeba if you have any questions or concerns and
we’ll do our best to address them promptly. We will be checking our
emails throughout the workday from 8am-3:10pm. We understand that you are
in an unexpected situation, as well, and while you weren’t anticipating
teaching your child kindergarten material from home when this year started, we
do hope, that by doing so, it adds a bit of normalcy and stability into their
day.
Thank you for
your continued care, kindness, and support as we work together.
